Chemical engineering fluid mechanics
Combining comprehensive theoretical and empirical perspectives into a clearly organized text, Chemical Engineering Fluid Mechanics, Third Edition discusses the principal behavioral concepts of fluids and the basic methods of analysis for resolving a variety of engineering situations. Presenting the foundational (macroscopic) conservation equations that govern the behavior of fluids, the authors apply these to a wide variety of practical situations specific to the chemical engineer. Emphasis continues to be placed on adapting fundamental principles to the solution of practical problems throughout the text.
Just as in the first two editions, the scope of this edition includes both Newtonian and non-Newtonian incompressible fluids as well as compressible fluids in sub-sonic through choked flow. Both internal flows (in pipes, conduits, fittings, etc.) and external flows (e.g.. fluid drag on particles, sedimentation, fluidization, cyclone separation, etc.) are included.
